An evening with David Byrne
featuring the songs of Talking Heads and DAVID BYRNE & BRIAN ENO
Lushington Entertainments is proud to announce David Byrne live in Singapore & Hong Kong - the creative force behind the extremely influential and critically-acclaimed Talking Heads. This will be David Byrne's very first Asian tour.
David Byrne and Brian Eno have reunited for their first record together in 27 years, since the highly influential and critically acclaimed 1981 release My Life in the Bush of Ghosts which featured a groundbreaking use of sampling.
Titled Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, Byrne is currently supporting his latest record with a six-month world tour titled “David Byrne, Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno,” which not only features their newest collaborative effort, but also Byrne performing songs from his numerous collaborations with Brian Eno including tracks from My Life in the Bush of Ghosts and several Talking Heads albums produced by Eno.
Byrne was the founding member and principal songwriter of Talking Heads, whose avant-garde musical style incorporated the elements of punk rock, pop, funk and world music. Talking Heads produced hits such as Psycho Killer (1977), a cover of Al Green’s Take Me to the River (1978), and Burning Down the House (1983), the band's first American Top 10 hit.
During his time with Talking Heads, Byrne also worked on a variety of eclectic projects and media including photography, film, opera and visual art. Byrne also collaborated with a wide genre of artistes, from Tejano superstar Diva Selena to Fatboy Slim. The versatile and talented Byrne has many achievements to his name; he has won an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe, most notably for his collaboration on Bernardo Bertolucci's The Last Emperor.
Byrne’s recent works include Grown Backwards (2004), Look Into The Eyeball (2001), and Big Love: Hymnal (2008), music for the second season of the HBO series; while Eno, the founding member of Roxy Music, has produced or co-produced seminal works such as U2’s The Joshua Tree and Unforgettable Fire, David Bowie’s Outside, and Coldplay’s latest album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends.
Lauded by reviewers as “the most open-hearted singing of [Byrne’s] career” (Washington Post) and “as weird and wonderful as ever” (Chicago Tribune), the tour will continue throughout the U.S. from the fall of 2008 through early 2009, Australasia in early 2009 and Europe in March 2009.
