With a No. 1 song on Billboard's Dance Charts ("Pyramid"), a Top Ten Pop debut last Spring – and a major role as exchange student Sunshine Corazon on the hit TV Show "Glee" last season, there's no doubt that her talents are now even bigger than even she imagined. On first glance, Charice looks like any other teenager: pretty, petite and filled with non-stop energy. But when this barely five foot bundle of dynamite opens her mouth to sing, with a soaring voice filled with emotion and conviction, the audience literally gasps. At over 260 million hits and counting on YouTube, that audience is growing at a staggering pace. "It's been a dream come true," is how 19 year-old singing sensation Charice has described her extraordinary rise to fame over these last few years. "Charice's seasoned voice should secure her a spot among the greats," glowed Billboard Magazine. "A powerhouse performance, it's the stuff of a young Celine, Whitney or Mariah," raved People Magazine. But let's begin at the beginning: Born and raised in The Philippines, Charice's talent was discovered at age 4 when her mother, also a singer, found her daughter on top of a table singing a loud, rather enthusiastic version of "Happy Birthday" and decided to teach her proper vocal technique. By age 7, Charice was competing in singing contests throughout Asia. Charice supported her family through the earnings from these contests. In 2007, a web-savvy fan began posting a series of Charice's performances on YouTube – she instantly became an authentic internet sensation attracting the attention of American TV shows. Appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres Show were followed by several performances on the Oprah Winfrey Show. "You are a force to be reckoned with. That voice comes from something bigger than yourself," raved Oprah. Enter David Foster who invited Charice to perform on his David Foster and Friends PBS Show in Las Vegas. When the "David Foster and Friends" show returned to the Mandalay Bay the following year, Charice received no less than six standing ovations. In between the two Vegas appearances, Charice went on to perform with Celine Dion at her Madison Square Garden show in New York City.
During Charice's appearance on Oprah, her heart stopping song "Note To God" written by multi-Grammy winning songwriter Diane Warren became an instant Top 10 hit on iTunes with 100,000 downloads. Charice also had a featured role in the recent "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" movie.
On the international front, Charice's first CD has gone to No. 1 in Japan and throughout Asia. On top of her success in the music world, Charice massive talent caught the attention of Hollywood. Charice just finished filming her first feature film; "Here Comes The Boom" for Sony Pictures with Salma Hayek and Kevin James.Charice recently released her second studio album 'Infinity' throughout Asia. The album hit the top of the charts in Asia.
Having wowed audiences with her amazing live performance at the open-air Padang Stage at the Singapore Grand Prix in September earlier this year, Charice is making her return to Singapore and also making her way to Hong Kong. This time, her soaring vocals will dazzle audiences in an intimate and cosy setting. Concert-goers in both territories are in for a memorable, enchanted evening with CHARICE.
